Dear parents,
Thank you for your interest in the European School of Strasbourg.
The admission process for the European School will begin at the end of February 2025.
Before submitting your application, we kindly ask you to review the European equivalency table available on our website.
Additionally, you may consult the table of birth years to determine the appropriate level for your child’s application.
Please note that admission to M1 is only possible for children who have turned 4 years old by December 31 of the requested academic year.
Mid-year admissions are not possible unless the applicant belongs to Category A.
Category A includes all children of staff members of EU agencies (those with Category 1 status in traditional European Schools).
In such cases, direct contact by email (ecole.europeenne@ac-strasbourg.fr) is mandatory.
Visits to the school and interviews with the directors are only possible after final admission.
No tuition fees are required at our institution, which is a Public Local Institution of International Education (EPLEI). However, parents may incur potential costs for the school cafeteria and regular school supplies (Nursery and Primary – Secondary levels).

“The European School of Strasbourg is a public local educational institution but offers a specific educational program.”
Education is provided from the nursery cycle (from age 4) to the European Baccalaureate and is organized into three linguistic sections: German-speaking, English-speaking, and French-speaking.
Families wishing to submit an application should note that the chosen section must align with the child’s native or habitual language. Admission may be subject to passing specific tests. For Category A students whose native language is not taught at the European School of Strasbourg, one of the three working languages (German, English, French) must be selected.
Important Notes for Secondary School Applications
Due to the linguistic specificity of the teaching provided and the diploma being prepared, the candidate’s academic record is taken into account in the admission decision. Additionally, tests are conducted in Language 1 (L1) and Language 2 (L2).
Applications for the 7th year of secondary education are only considered if the student was enrolled in the 6th year at a European School.
Admission Criteria
A : Children of staff members of European Union institutions and agencies, in accordance with Article 1 of the Convention defining the status of European Schools.
